Diabetes Workshop by MAC and GOPIO on March 3rd: An Opportunity to Learn and Empower

MAC, in collaboration with GOPIO, organised an exceptionally informative session on diabetes for community health and well-being. The session was skilfully facilitated by the principal practitioner, Dr. Paresh Dawna, Nurse Liz, a credentialed Diabetes Educator, and Afnan Parast, an Exercise Physiologist from Next Practice Deakin.

The workshop provided valuable insights into optimizing health and well-being while living with diabetes. Dr. Dawda and the team delved into the immediate effects of exercise on blood sugar levels. At Next Practice, all experts are readily available to offer advice and create individualized plans for patients, aiming not only to manage but, in some cases, reverse diabetes through lifestyle changes.

We extend our gratitude to Dr. Dawda and the entire team for generously dedicating their time and support to the community. Special thanks to the Labor Club Belconnen for their steadfast support, and we appreciate the active participation of all attendees.

Looking ahead, the GOPIO Canberra chapter is gearing up to present a workshop on managing heart health in the coming months. These health and well-being workshops aim to raise awareness within the diaspora community, emphasising disease prevention and early intervention. We strive to empower individuals with knowledge about where to seek advice from various healthcare professionals.
